About the Laramie Pop-Up Art Walk
The 6th Annual 2021 Laramie Pop-Up Art Walk is a weekend long art walk that includes established galleries alongside “pop-up” shops that showcase the work of local artists, musicians, and performers. The event features live theatre, music, demos, and opportunities for the public to make art at the event. All of this occurs inside the pop-up spaces as well as on the streets of downtown with the goal of turning the historic district into an art gallery/space.
The Artwalk, formerly organized by the Wyoming Art Party, is now hosted by Laramie Main Street and a dedicated group of volunteers. Laramie Main Street’s goal in hosting the Artwalk is to organize an event that is fully inclusive and highlights local visual and performing arts. The event will showcase the work of local artists and will help to further promote the idea of Laramie as the cultural capital of Wyoming. The event will also bring people into downtown spaces and businesses that they may not typically frequent.
The event’s goal is to organize a downtown event that is fully inclusive and highlights local visual and performing arts. The event will showcase the work of local artists and will help to further promote the idea of Laramie as the cultural capital of Wyoming.
Previous year’s art walks have featured local artists, musicians, performers, a few non-local guest artists partnering with local artists, as well as an Artists’ Village with a performance stage, vintage trailers, a sheep wagon, a community art making table, a photobooth, and overlaps with NU2U’s annual street dance on Friday night, located next to the Artist Village. The Laramie Pop-Up Art Walk is supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, a program of the Dept. of State Parks and Cultural Resources.
About Laramie’s Basecamp
Laramie’s Basecamp is Laramie’s best outdoor adventure company that’s inclusive, family-friendly and fun. In addition to their retail store downtown, they offer equipment and gear rentals, ski and snowboard waxing, tuning, stone grinding, and tech services, as well as guiding and outfitting programs. They also run the Little Laramie Hikers group and put on multiple community outdoor related programs.
Some businesses are stuffy and boring. They’re not.
They’re the kind of businesses that has a freezer full of popsicles at their Basecamp South location cool and ready for our SUP and kayak renters after they get off the water.
They’re the kind of business who takes their monthly staff meetings to the trail, so they can pick up trash as they review their schedule and goals. They’re the kind of business that has a vision board hanging on their walls and values that guide them in all we do. They’re the kind of business that celebrates their failures as a chance to get better more than our victories. They’re a little quirky. They’re a little weird. They’re not perfect, but they’re a lot of fun. They don’t know everything, but we’re always learning.
When you shop at Basecamp instead of a big box store you’re supporting a dream. A dream of creating an Outdoor Adventure Company that’s inclusive, family-friendly and fun. When you shop at Basecamp you’re helping to send their 6 high school employees to college in a few years. When you shop at Basecamp you’re helping to offset the cost of Basecamp Ski Club and their goal to help young ski endurance athletes train to become super fast. When you shop at Basecamp you’re helping their 3 college students/employees pay for books and rent.
But most of all, when you shop at Basecamp they get to see you! Because after years in business they make you feel like you’re not a stranger when you walk into their shop or rental center. They feel like you’re a friend.
