Band Portraits – Dauphin Promo Shoot at Prairie Monarch Bison Ranch, Laramie, Wyoming

| | | |

Dauphin (I hear) is pronounced [daw-fin; French doh-fan] and is the eldest son of the king of France. Getting to photograph these two not so French princes was as memorable an experience as hearing their music is. We all drove out to Prairie Monarch Bison Ranch here in Laramie and all let out our dogs in a safe place away from roaming bison.

We decided to have photographs taken both in the old barn with all of its classic western charm as well as out literally where the bison roam. Visually, for a photographer, my job felt easy. There was a beautiful scene, setting sun, two men and Jason’s dog Boot, none of whom I had to tell twice to have fun. Naturally both Ray and I’s husky’s were left to the confinement of the car as they don’t have half the self control Boot does to NOT chase bison. I suppose for Dauphin there was just a titch more excitement for them since they essentially had to pose with their back to herd of bison, trusting that I would let them know if they decided to go for an evening jog.

I think that carrying a beautiful, carefully crafted throne out into the middle of a field with your back to herd of bison is a fitting representation for the creative depth, thought, time, soul, and dedication that Dauphin puts into their songwriting. I know I’m definitely excited to see what this creative duo comes up with for their debut CD! Check out their website here!
