Kirigin and Nick’s Dreamy Backyard Wedding in Portland, Oregon
Backyard weddings are so personal and unique, and this particular Portland, Oregon wedding took place in one of the most dreamy and beautiful settings you could find. Kirigin and Nick are absolutely wonderful people who are sure to have many many many happy years and adventures ahead of them! They did use a few vendors, but all of the decor, table settings, ceremony, backdrop, and lights were all done by the bride and groom themselves and their family and friends and what a great job they did! The Norwegian Kransekake wedding cake was even made by the groom’s parents and was just as delicious as it was beautiful.

The bride got ready at her parents own home and was able to look through her mother’s jewelry to pick out the perfect pieces to borrow for the wedding. Her Tom’s shoes are just the cutest bridal wedges!
The groom met us at Tryon Creek State Natual Area where he would see his bride for the first time for the big first look reveal. They came to these woods after first getting engaged and now they return on their wedding day to enjoy some quiet forest time together before heading over to the ceremony and reception.
The backyard was waiting for the bride and groom to arrive. The bride’s family and friends had been planning for this wedding for months. They had actually planted all white flowers just for the big day and all their gardening work paid off since it was truly an absolutely beautiful wedding garden and everything was in full bloom!
The tables were set and the ceremony started in a beautifully decorated backyard setting. The grooms family worked hard putting the finishing touches on the table settings and making little gift bags for every guest with personalized chocolates and a Minnesota agate. Fitting, since the groom is a geologist! Everything about this wedding was personalized down to the last detail that really made for a very special evening.
The bride and groom wrote their own vows and were married by the groom’s grandfather, making the ceremony unique and so personal!
The newlywed’s took a spin around the block in this quiet and beautiful Oregon neighborhood and the couple enjoyed their very first moments as man and wife!
The couple opted to have a selection of delicious cupcakes as well as Kransekake, a traditional 18 layered Norwegian that the groom’s mother and father made. Since the groom is from Minnesota, his Norwegian cultural roots run strong. The tradition is for the couple to be blind folded and cut the cake together by cutting horizontally into the cake. The number of rings of the cake the couple cuts off is supposed to be the number of children they will have! For cutting the cake, the bride wore a traditional Norwegian wedding crown as well, the exact same one that the groom’s mother wore for her own wedding.
The newlyweds cut off two rings, symbolizing the two children they are predicted to have! They had toasts and ate the most delicious mole for dinner as the sun went down and the beautiful bistro lights they had string up everywhere came to life. The ceremony location turned into a stage for the band, which included a few solos from the both the brides’s mother and father. What a talented family!
Nick and Kirigin’s wedding was full of personal touches in the most intimate and beautiful backyard setting you could image. Congratulations to the new couple! They sure did start their marriage off right surrounded by friends and family. Congratulations Nick and Kirigin! Here’s to many more!
