Beautiful hoar frost in the Laramie Mountains

| |

We got about 10 inches of fresh beautiful sparkling powder last night. As soon as I heard there was hoar frost in the Laramie Mountains, I immediately walked home from the office, grabbed my snow shoes and pack (which is always packed for moments like this) and headed to the mountains to catch the last few rays of light. I think this one may be a more appropriate for the solstice today. It’s hard to explain the beauty of fresh snow coating the tall towering evergreens. It sparkles magnificently in the sun and can be blown off the branches like glitter. Fresh snow and sparkling glittering snowflakes clinging to every branch in the quiet winter forests is one of my favorite shows by mother nature.
