Frequently Asked Questions

category_rollover - FAQ 2

Where does the session take place?

You can either have your session in the studio in downtown Laramie, Wyoming or at a location of your choice.  On-location outdoor sessions at one of Wyoming’s many scenic spots makes for images as amazing as our Western vistas, although the best locations are always spots that are special to you.  I love to travel, so let me know if you have a dream location you’d like to do it at.  You can also make it personal with a lifestyle session by having an in-home studio session where I’ll bring my portable studio lighting kit to you and we’ll do your session in your own backyard in a more relaxed environment.  Think about where you might like to have you session or I can recommend a location for you.

When is the best time for my session?

For outdoor sessions, the best time is usually right around sunrise and sunset, when the light is the best. This means either an  hour or two before sunset or an hour or two just after sunrise. If you are interested in star portraits, the best time is at least one hour after sunset. Studio and in-home portraits may be done almost any time. Contact me to find a time that fits your schedule.

What is the total investment?

I have a range of options and packages to chose from depending on your goals from your session. Investments can vary depending on number of hours, the extent of post-production, and deliverables.  Once we discuss your needs and determine the best fit for you, we will go over exact cost in detail. Investments can range from as little as $100 to $3,000. I realize that custom portraiture is a significant investment, and I am always honored to be chosen to help tell your story.  Studio session fees start at $300 and include a complimentary $50 print credit.  Head shot sessions start at $100 and come with one high res file for personal use.  Most portrait clients invest anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars on their session and walk away with digital files as well as a personalized fine art piece or album.

I’m ready to book! What now?

That’s great! Contact me to check my availability and we’ll set up a meeting to get to know each other better!  We’ll discuss your goals, personal style, find out if we’re a good fit, and create a unique portrait experience custom tailored for you.

What do you require to hold my date?

A session fee reservation deposit and a signed contract are required at the time of booking to hold your date.

What happens if it rains (or snows!) during my session?

There is a saying in the mountains that if you don’t like the weather, just wait ten minutes. Weather can change quickly, especially in the summer, so cancellations will usually not be made until the time of your session. Keep in mind that bad weather usually means good photographs, amazing lighting, and rainbows! Safety is of utmost concern, so if there is severe weather or lightning during your session, we will try our best to reschedule.

How will I see and share my images after our session?

Once your images are ready about two to four weeks after your session, we’ll meet at the studio for your Viewing and Ordering Appointment where you’ll get to see your images on the big screen.  Here, we’ll help you with your final decisions about what prints and products would work best in your home.  We’ll help you sort through your images and pick out what would best complement your decor and style.  Here is where the creative process begins for custom heirloom albums, image pairings, wall galleries, and adding design elements for one-of-a-kind products!  If you’ve selected to be featured on the blog, a gallery of your purchased images will be posted online for out of town friends and family to see.

I want something for my wall, but I don’t know what size.

Not a problem! I offer a free custom wall preview service to help you visualize what your prints will look like on the wall to aid you in your decision. This is great to help you choose what sizes to get to best fit your space or to visualize different collage layout options and color schemes on either your very own wall or one of my preview templates. Send me an image of the wall you’d like to visualize prints on along with the length of one object in the photo, preferably on the back where the prints will be displayed such as the length of the top of the couch, to use for scaling purposes. Let me know what photographs, sizes, and types of prints (metal, matted, framed, etc.) you would like to preview and I will work with you to help you make the right choice for you!
