The opening reception for the first Women Women Exhibition at the Boarding House Gallery above NU2U in Laramie, Wyoming on May 7th, 2016 was a wonderful gathering to help keep women wild and support local women in our community. The Wild Woman Exhibition is a photographic exhibition celebrating seven local women with a wild side worth talking about. Each wild woman was locally nominated and invited to receive a free portrait session to highlight their uniqueness, strength, and to help grow their businesses and goals. This is the first series of what we hope to be an ongoing project. Click here to learn more about the project, nominate a wild woman you know, learn how you can get involved, and hear when the next one is. The exhibition is on display at The Boarding House Gallery, 2nd Story of NU2U, 320 S 5th St in Laramie, Wyoming until May 21st, 2016.
We were treated to some great live music by three local singer/songwriters who all made it to the finals of this years Laramie Singer Songwriter Competition. Timothy John started it off with some piano, followed by performances on guitar by Birgit Burke and Jon Gardzelewski. Birgit is one of the featured wild women in the exhibition and she plays a rocking set from the heart every time. A true wild woman!
Rachelle Rose is another one of this exhibition’s featured wild women, and she has her brand new spring line of beautiful hand made and custom designed clothing from Rachelle Rose Designs for sale in the gallery for the length of the exhibition until May 21st, 2016!
We had a great turn out despite the rain, hail, thunder, thunder snow, and 4 inches of heavy wet snow that occurred during the opening reception. Only the wildest of women made it out! Since big snowstorms during Mother’s Day weekend here in Laramie at 7200 feet is typical mountain weather, those of us that came enjoyed watching the town slowly be blanketed in quiet white snow through the gallery windows. The sight was actually quite beautiful. Even professional photographers take selfies once in a while. 🙂
It was a wonderful opening reception in downtown Laramie and I hope that if you are in the area between now and May 21st, 2016 you stop by to have a look! Thanks to everyone who braved the heavy spring snow and came out! It means a lot!
